When We Start A Project,
We See It To Its End.

Intco is an acronym of our company, International Commodity Trade Pte Ltd, which was incorporated in Singapore. Its nature of business is commodity trading, with coal as its maiden product.

Its founder, Eddie Chin Wai Fong, is no stranger to this business, having invested more than 30 years in the Indonesian coal mining industry. In 2018, he retired as CEO of Bayan Group, one of the biggest coal mining companies listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange. He subsequently resigned from the Bayan Group as a Commissioner in 2019.

Mr Chin has associated with Cokal Ltd since 2019. Cokal Ltd is actively developing huge coalfields in the Central Kalimantan Province of Indonesia. The most advanced of these is the Bumi Barito Mineral (BBM) project which will start commercial production early 2022 after many years of exploration and development.

As BBM needed funding to move into the production phase, Intco entered into a capital participation agreement with the Cokal subsidiary (BBM), providing them with a funding facility.

In return, Intco was granted the right to market and sell BBM coal output in the overseas market.

This strategic investment is crucial to Intco as a commodity trader, as it allows the company to secure long-term coal supply from a Producer, thus enabling it to enter into long-term coal supply agreements with end users.

Also, the BBM output is metallurgical coal (coking and PCI coal) which is well suited for steel manufacturers. Currently, only a few mines produce such high-quality coal in Indonesia.

Intco is ever open to exploring opportunities in commodity trading

OUR FOUNDER

Eddie Chin Wai Fong, has over 30 years experience in the coal mining industry in Indonesia.

After graduating from the University of Glasgow in 1981 with an honours degree in Civil Engineering, Mr Chin started his career in Indonesia in January 1982.

He spent 16 years (1982–1998) with PT Jaya Sumpiles Indonesia (JSI), the country’s top civil and marine contractor that did large-scale civil
engineering, harbor construction and coal mining contracting throughout Indonesia.

Mr Chin was one of the founding members of the Bayan Group of Indonesia. He played a leading role in Bayan, acquiring greenfield coal mines and taking them from exploration and development to the production/exploitation stage.

All companies under the Group are held under the
company, PT Bayan Resources Tbk (Bayan) which has been listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange since August 2008.

In January 2018, he resigned as CEO and President Director of the Bayan Group, to focus his undivided attention to building a commodity trading platform, starting with coal as a mainstay. This led him to establish Intco, which will operate on strategies that he has spent many years perfecting.
